When Radon Testing and Mitigation Inc. works on new buildings to keep radon gas out, we use a special material that’s really good at letting air flow through it. This material is kind of like a super-strong net. It has a core made of nylon, which is a tough type of plastic. This core is made up of lots of tiny, tangled threads that are all stuck together. Then, this core is covered with a special fabric that’s designed to let air and water move through it easily.

This setup is amazing because it lets 95% of the space in the material stay open. This means air can move through it really well, which is exactly what we want when we’re trying to control radon. We use this material under the concrete floors of new buildings, especially in basements. It works for two big reasons.
